This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced Damp & Mould Surveyor, Building Surveyor, or Repairs Surveyor to investigate complex residential building defects and deliver lasting technical solutions. Working within a specialist repairs function, you'll manage inspections, diagnosis, technical reports, specifications, contractors and post-works quality assurance across occupied homes.

Description

  • Investigate damp and mould cases in line with current housing standards and Awaab's Law requirements.
  • Carry out detailed inspections across occupied residential properties.
  • Diagnose the root cause of defects using evidence-based building surveying techniques.
  • Investigate issues including:
    • Damp and mould
    • Water ingress
    • Roofing defects
    • Drainage issues
    • Condensation
    • Ventilation performance
    • Building fabric deterioration
  • Produce clear technical reports, specifications and schedules of work.
  • Use the NHF Schedule of Rates when preparing repair specifications.
  • Manage specialist contractors throughout the repair process.
  • Undertake pre-inspections and post-inspections to ensure work has been completed to the correct quality standard.
  • Support complex housing disrepair claims, complaints and Housing Ombudsman investigations.
  • Provide technical advice and guidance to internal colleagues.
  • Ensure recommendations address the underlying cause of issues rather than simply treating visible symptoms.
  • Maintain accurate records and ensure all cases are progressed professionally and efficiently.
  • Support the wider specialist repairs team in delivering safe, compliant and long-term repair solutions.

Profile

The ideal candidate will be an experienced residential property professional with a strong technical surveying background and a genuine interest in building pathology and complex defect diagnosis.

You will ideally have experience in:

  • Residential building surveying.
  • Damp and mould investigations.
  • Housing disrepair or complex repairs.
  • Diagnosing building defects.
  • Occupied property inspections.
  • Producing technical reports and schedules of work.
  • Managing contractors and repair works.
  • Pre and post inspections.
  • Working within social housing, local authority housing, housing associations, residential property or maintenance environments.
  • Understanding resident-focused repairs and customer-sensitive cases.
