Introduction for Business Development Representative
Industrial Connected Talent is supporting a specialist engineering and measurement technology business in the search for a Business Development Representative.
This is a consultative outbound sales role focused on engaging technical prospects across manufacturing, quality and laboratory environments. Rather than traditional scripted telemarketing, you will have application-led conversations, uncover customer challenges and secure high-quality technical demonstrations for the field sales team.
Candidates must live within a manageable daily commute of Send, Surrey.
Responsibilities for Business Development Representative
As Business Development Representative, you will be responsible for developing new opportunities through targeted outbound activity and working closely with regional sales teams to build a strong pipeline.
• Carry out multi-channel outreach through phone, email and professional social networks
• Engage manufacturing, quality, engineering and laboratory professionals
• Qualify prospects based on applications, technical requirements and investment timelines
• Book technical demonstrations and consultations for Field Sales Representatives
• Develop strong relationships with prospective customers
• Provide detailed handovers to territory managers ahead of customer meetings
• Maintain accurate records of activity, opportunities and pipeline progress
• Work closely with sales teams to improve conversion and territory development
Requirements for Business Development Representative
The ideal candidate will have experience in B2B sales development, inside sales or professional lead generation and be comfortable speaking with technical decision-makers.
• 1 to 3 years’ experience in B2B sales development, inside sales or outbound lead generation
• Technical, engineering or manufacturing sector experience would be highly beneficial
• Excellent telephone manner and active listening skills
• Confidence discussing technical applications without relying on rigid scripts
• Strong written and verbal communication skills
• Resilient, target-driven and commercially motivated
• Good organisation and CRM discipline
• Ability to communicate professionally with senior engineering and quality stakeholders
• Must live within a reasonable daily commute of Send, Surrey
