Job Description:
Business Development Manager – London, Southeast & East Anglia
Salary: £50,000 basic + bonus | Electric or new diesel company car (or allowance) | Fuel card | Laptop & phone | Pension
Location: Home-based, field role covering the London, Southeast & East Anglia
Type: Full-time, permanent
The Opportunity
A long-established and highly respected timber windows, doors and fire doors manufacturer is growing, and they're investing in people to drive that growth. With an £11m turnover and ambitious plans to reach £15m over the next two years, this is a genuinely exciting time to come on board.
This is a brand-new role created off the back of expansion, not a backfill. You'll be joining a business on a real journey, with the autonomy to make the territory your own and the backing of a company that wants its sales team to lead, grow and step into senior positions over time.
If you want to be a driver of change rather than a cog in a machine, read on.
About the Company
This is a manufacturer with a serious reputation for quality; think "Rolls Royce" of the sector. They're one of the very few who burn-test their own products, and they've built their name on craftsmanship, dependable lead times and a length of pedigree few competitors can match.
Everything is manufactured in-house at a 175,000 sq ft facility, giving full control over quality and the ability to offer genuinely bespoke solutions for both windows and doors. A dedicated technical specification team works alongside architects to get every detail right.
They're forward-looking too by exploring new manufacturing methods and product innovation while staying true to the quality that built their name. And they care about their community, with the kind of family feel where people stay for years and turn up with a smile.
The Role
As Business Development Manager, you'll own your patch across the Northeast, Cumbria and Scotland. You'll be handed a substantial existing account to manage and grow, alongside a healthy pipeline of dormant and previously quoted accounts to reopen — plus leads generated by a dedicated internal sales team. But make no mistake: new business is the heart of this role.
You'll be selling fire doors, front entrance doors and timber windows into a varied and high-value market.
What you'll be doing:
- Driving new business while maintaining and growing existing accounts
- Working across a wide range of routes to market: architects, developers, main contractors, installers, social housing providers and end clients (including student accommodation)
- Targeting residential and social housing projects, with scope to break into new sectors like NHS and education
- Reopening dormant accounts and converting quoted opportunities
- Managing deals from £3,000 right up to £300,000+, with average orders around £30,000
- Following up leads, booking customer meetings and being a true door-knocker and self-starter
- Aiming to add £1m+ in revenue in your first year
About You
- 2+ years in a similar field sales / business development role
- A genuine customer-facing background (this is not a merchant counter-sales role) — you understand selling via specification and direct to site
- A strong communicator who's socially outgoing and builds rapport easily
- Self-motivated with real internal drive — comfortable working autonomously from home
- A natural converter who closes
- Product knowledge in doors, windows or fire doors is a real advantage, though not essential for the right person with the right routes to market
- Full UK driving licence
What's On Offer
- £50,000 basic salary with bonus structure
- Choice of electric or new diesel company car (or allowance)
- Fuel card, expensed weekly
- Laptop and mobile phone
- Statutory pension
- Annual leave (details discussed at interview)
- A genuine path to senior roles as the business grows
- Team incentives, social events and a Christmas party
- The chance to shape a territory and be part of a real growth story
