ISQ Recruitment is recruiting a Buyer for an established engineering and manufacturing business in Norfolk. This is a hands-on purchasing role focused on raising and progressing purchase orders, monitoring deliveries and ensuring the business receives the components, materials and services it requires.
The role would suit someone with practical experience in day-to-day buying who enjoys keeping orders moving, maintaining accurate records and resolving supply or delivery issues. Previous purchasing experience within engineering or manufacturing would be preferred.
About the role
Working within the procurement team and reporting to the Procurement Manager, you will manage purchasing activity from the initial request through to delivery.
You will place purchase orders, monitor order confirmations and lead times, follow up outstanding deliveries and keep purchasing information up to date. You will also work closely with engineering, operations and project teams to understand their requirements and respond to changes in priorities.
Key duties
- Raising, processing and progressing purchase orders.
- Monitoring order confirmations, lead times and expected delivery dates.
- Following up outstanding or delayed orders with suppliers.
- Maintaining accurate purchasing and supplier information.
- Addressing availability, supply and delivery issues.
- Liaising with engineering, operations and project teams regarding purchasing requirements.
- Supporting the availability of components, materials and services required by the business.
- Updating purchase orders when quantities, specifications or delivery requirements change.
- Ensuring purchases follow the company’s approval processes and procedures.
- Previous experience as a Buyer, Purchasing Assistant, Purchasing Coordinator or in a similar role.
- Experience managing purchase orders from placement through to delivery.
- Previous purchasing experience within engineering or manufacturing is preferred.
- Good organisational skills and attention to detail.
- Confidence using purchasing, ERP or stock-management systems.
- The ability to manage several orders and priorities at the same time.
- Clear communication skills when dealing with suppliers and internal departments.
- A practical and persistent approach to resolving supply and delivery issues.
- A relevant purchasing, procurement, business or engineering qualification would be useful but is not essential.
