A growing manufacturing business is looking to appoint a Buyer to join its Procurement team. This is an excellent opportunity for a procurement professional who enjoys working in a fast-paced manufacturing environment and wants to play a key role in supporting production, managing supplier relationships, and driving continuous improvement across the supply chain.
The Role - Buyer
Reporting to the Head of Supply Chain, you will be responsible for ensuring the timely supply of materials required to support production schedules while maintaining strong supplier relationships and optimising inventory levels.
Key responsibilities include:
- Raising purchase orders and managing requisitions through an ERP system.
- Monitoring supplier acknowledgements and delivery commitments.
- Maintaining procurement data, including lead times, MOQ/MPQ values and open order books.
- Building and developing strong supplier relationships to improve service, quality and delivery performance.
- Negotiating pricing, terms and cost-saving initiatives.
- Managing both direct and indirect procurement activities.
- Supporting inventory planning to balance material availability with stock control objectives.
We are keen to speak with buyers who have experience within a manufacturing environment and can demonstrate strong commercial awareness and supplier management skills.
Ideally, you will have:
- Previous purchasing or procurement experience within manufacturing.
- Experience buying mechanical components (sheet metal), with electrical components experience also highly desirable.
- Experience managing supplier relationships, negotiations and performance.
- Experience using MRP/ERP systems
- The ability to work effectively with internal stakeholders across multiple departments.
Interested candidates with experience purchasing mechanical and/or electrical components within a manufacturing environment are encouraged to apply. Mechanical buying experience is preferred, with some flexibility for candidates who can demonstrate strong transferable procurement experience in a similar technical setting.
