Cable Assembler/Wire Person

Salary: £15 per hour
Working Hours: 7:30 to 3:45 (Mon to Thurs) Friday early finish
Location: Hitchin
Job Type: Temporary with a view to permanent

About the Role

Our client is a friendly and well-established Manufacturing business looking for a skilled Cable Assembler / Wire Person to join their team.

You will be responsible for assembling cable harnesses, PCB assemblies and sub-assemblies, working from technical drawings, schematics and detailed instructions. Accuracy and attention to detail are essential.

Key Responsibilities

• Assemble cables, PCB assemblies and sub-assemblies.
• Read and follow technical drawings, schematics and instructions.
• Carry out soldering, wire stripping and crimping.
• Complete point-to-point and semi-automated testing.
• Use hand and power tools to assemble components.
• Check completed work to ensure it meets quality standards.
• Identify and report defective parts or issues.
• Maintain a clean and organised working environment.
• Work effectively as part of a small team.

Essential Skills & Experience

• Previous experience as a Cable Assembler, Wire Person or similar.
• Ideally 2 years' relevant experience, although candidates with strong manual dexterity will be considered.
• Experience within the electronics industry.
• Ability to read technical drawings and schematics.
• Experience with soldering, wire stripping and crimping.
• Good attention to detail and hand-eye coordination.
• Ability to work accurately and follow procedures.
• Good communication skills and a team-focused attitude.
