Calibration Technician – Full time (39 hours), £32,000–£34,000 + 22% shift premium

  • Specialist calibration environment working to ISO 9001 and ISO 17025 standards.
  • Calibration experience, particularly within a UKAS-accredited laboratory, is preferred, although training can be provided for an electrical/electronics test professional.
  • Rotating shifts: 7am–3.30pm and 2pm–11pm, with the late shift approximately 1 week in 3. The late shift can be compressed into Monday–Thursday or a shorter Friday. A 22% shift premium will be paid on the week of the late shift, so your earnings will actually be a couple of grand higher.

This Calibration Technician job will suit:

  • A Calibration Technician, Calibration Engineer, Electrical Technician, Electronics Technician or Test Technician.
  • Someone with calibration laboratory experience, ideally within a UKAS-accredited environment.
  • Alternatively, an electrical/electronics test professional looking to move into calibration.
  • Level 3 qualification in Electrical / Electronic Engineering or equivalent.
  • Experience with electrical/electronic instrumentation and test equipment.
  • Good Microsoft Office skills, particularly Excel and Word.
  • Full UK driving licence.

This Calibration Technician job will involve:

  • Carrying out multi-disciplinary instrument calibration to approved procedures.
  • Working to ISO 9001 and ISO 17025 standards.
  • Producing technical reports and calibration certificates.
  • Maintaining accurate calibration records and processing calibration data.
  • Setting up and programming reference equipment.
  • Assessing instrument faults and carrying out component-level repairs, including surface-mount devices.
  • Carrying out calibration work on client sites and liaising with customers.
  • Supporting the development of calibration methods and reference equipment.
  • Ensuring calibration equipment and reference standards are properly maintained.
  • Infrequent Travel to Essex Test Facility (maybe a couple of times per year)
