Lead Transformation and Shape the Future
An exciting opportunity has arisen for an experienced Organisational Development professional to join the London Borough of Barking & Dagenham as a Change Programme Organisational Development Lead.
Working closely with the OD Manager and senior leaders, you will play a key role in delivering the Council's transformation agenda, helping to create more resident-centred, preventative and place-based services. You will champion a culture of collaboration, innovation and continuous improvement, ensuring the organisation is equipped to adapt and thrive in a changing environment.
The Role
As the Change Programme Organisational Development Lead, you will:
- Develop and implement organisational development strategies that support major transformation programmes.
- Lead cultural change initiatives that encourage collaborative, integrated ways of working.
- Design and deliver leadership development, employee engagement and change management programmes.
- Build organisational capability in adaptive leadership, digital fluency and data-informed decision-making.
- Partner with senior leaders and programme boards to provide strategic OD expertise and guidance.
- Develop and implement effective change management and stakeholder engagement plans.
- Embed new ways of working, behavioural change and accountability across services.
- Establish approaches to skills development, benefits realisation and continuous improvement.
- Support teams to build resilience, adaptability and readiness for change.
About You
We're looking for a proactive and influential OD professional who can successfully lead change in a complex organisation.
You will have:
- A strong track record of developing and delivering organisational development strategies.
- Extensive experience of transformational change, leadership development and employee engagement.
- Experience driving cultural change and embedding new ways of working.
- Excellent stakeholder management, facilitation and communication skills.
- The ability to influence and build credibility with senior leaders.
- Experience of digital transformation and data-driven organisational improvement.
- A collaborative and innovative approach to problem solving.
- The ability to translate strategic objectives into practical, sustainable outcomes.
Public sector or local government experience would be highly advantageous.
