Red Dot Search UK Limited

Household Claims Handler | Bolton | £26,000 – £28,000 | Mon–Fri, 9–5

Experienced in household claims and want your own caseload rather than a script and a queue?

We're recruiting a Household Claims Handler for a well-established general insurer just outside Bolton. You'll own household and property claims end to end — first notification through to settlement — with the authority to validate, negotiate and settle within your limits.

This is a household claims handler role for someone who already knows the work. If you've spent 12 months or more in household or property claims and you're ready to take full ownership of a caseload, this is a straight step up in autonomy and salary.

What you'll be doing

  • Managing a varied caseload of domestic property claims from first notification to final settlement
  • Handling FNOL calls and correspondence, confirming valid grounds to claim
  • Assessing policy cover, benefits and liability against guidelines
  • Validating and negotiating settlements within your authority
  • Appointing and managing suppliers supporting the policyholder
  • Identifying and referring suspicious underwriting or potential fraud
  • Keeping policyholders updated clearly throughout the claim
  • Managing your own diary and prioritising a busy caseload

What you'll need

  • Minimum 12 months in a household or property claims role
  • Confident telephone manner and genuine listening skills
  • High attention to detail — accuracy matters here
  • Comfortable moving between multiple systems
  • GCSE English and Maths at Grade C/4 or above
  • Holding or willing to work towards the CII Certificate (fully supported and funded)

What's on offer

  • £26,000 – £28,000 depending on experience
  • 35-hour week, Monday to Friday, 9am–5pm — no evenings, no weekends
  • On site in Bolton with free on-site parking
  • Full support and funding towards CII qualifications
  • Holiday allowance that increases with length of service, plus a holiday sell scheme
  • Your birthday off, and a half-day for seasonal shopping
  • Contributory pension, cycle to work scheme, discounted sports and social
  • Cash bonus for going above and beyond
  • Casual dress, free branded clothing
  • Trained mental health and first-aid staff on site

The honest bit

It's an on-site role in Bolton, five days a week. There's no hybrid on this one. If you want office-based work with sociable hours, a real caseload and a company that pays for your qualifications, it's a good seat. If you're after remote or compressed hours, this isn't the one.

Apply now and we'll come back to you to talk it through properly — including who the employer is, what the team looks like, and what the first six months actually involve.
