Clerk Of Works

Location: Bedfordshire | Initially 1 day per week

We are looking for an experienced Clerk of Works / Project Engineer to support the delivery of construction projects across the Southern Region. This is an initial one-day-per-week opportunity, with strong potential for the role to grow as the regional workload increases.

The role will be responsible for ensuring works are delivered safely, to the required quality standards and in accordance with approved designs, drawings, specifications and project requirements.

Key responsibilities:

• Carry out regular site inspections and monitor construction works against the design, specifications and ITP.
• Witness and sign off agreed inspection and hold points.
• Track project progress and identify any issues that could impact quality, programme or delivery.
• Monitor contractor compliance with health, safety and environmental requirements.
• Identify and report defects, non-conformances and other site issues.
• Provide clear updates and reports to the project team using standard reporting templates, email and telephone.
• Work closely with contractors, engineers and the wider project team to resolve issues and support successful project delivery.

About you:

• Experience working in a civil engineering or construction environment.
• Previous experience as a Clerk of Works, Site Engineer, Project Engineer or similar.
• Good understanding of construction standards, specifications and CDM 2015.
• Relevant technical qualification in Civil Engineering, Construction or a related discipline.
• Strong communication and problem-solving skills.
• CSCS registration and full UK driving licence.
• ICWCI membership or working towards membership would be advantageous, along with SMSTS/SSSTS
