The Role

As a Client Manager, you will take responsibility for a portfolio of established clients, acting as a trusted point of contact and providing a high-quality service across their accounting and tax requirements.

You will build strong, long-term relationships with business owners and individuals, understanding their circumstances and providing practical advice and support.

This is a genuinely client-facing position for an experienced practice accountant who enjoys working directly with clients and wants the autonomy to manage their own portfolio. You will work closely with the senior team and wider practice, while making full use of the firm's modern technology and systems.



Key Responsibilities

  • Manage a portfolio of established clients across a range of sectors
  • Build and maintain strong, long-term relationships with business owners and individuals
  • Act as the main point of contact for clients across their accounting and tax requirements
  • Prepare and review company accounts and financial statements
  • Prepare and review personal and corporation tax returns
  • Prepare management accounts and other financial information where required
  • Complete and review VAT returns
  • Provide clients with practical accounting and tax advice
  • Attend client meetings and develop a strong understanding of individual client businesses
  • Identify opportunities to provide additional services and support to clients
  • Manage deadlines and ensure client work is completed accurately and efficiently
  • Make effective use of accounting software and the firm's technology platforms
  • Work closely with colleagues to ensure a consistent, high-quality client service
  • Support and provide guidance to junior members of the team where required
  • Take ownership of client relationships and the delivery of work
  • Assist with general accountancy and advisory work as required


About You

  • Qualified or part-qualified ACA, ACCA, AAT or equivalent, although strong relevant practice experience will also be considered
  • Minimum of 4 years' experience within a UK accountancy practice environment
  • Proven experience managing a portfolio of clients
  • Strong technical knowledge across accounts and taxation
  • Confident dealing directly with directors, business owners and individuals
  • Strong communication and relationship-building skills
  • Commercial and practical approach to client management
  • Comfortable working independently and taking ownership of your workload
  • Good understanding of modern accounting software and technology
  • Strong attention to detail with excellent organisational skills
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines
  • Proactive, self-motivated and professional in approach
  • Strong commitment to delivering excellent client service
  • Someone who enjoys working with clients and building relationships rather than simply processing accounts
