CNC Engineer – Die Casting
Location: Burnley
Hours: Monday–Thursday, 6:00am–3:00pm
Salary: £35,000
We’re looking for an experienced CNC Engineer to join a busy manufacturing environment in Burnley, working with die-cast aluminium and zinc components.
This is a hands-on role covering CNC setting, operating and programming, with a strong focus on quality, accuracy and continuous improvement.
The Role
- Set, operate and programme CNC machines, including milling, turning and machining centres
- Read and interpret engineering drawings and technical specifications
- Select tooling, fixtures and work-holding equipment
- Set tooling offsets, speeds and feeds
- Carry out first-off and in-process inspections
- Make programme adjustments to improve quality, cycle times and tool life
- Machine aluminium, zinc and other die-cast components
- Identify and resolve machining, tooling and quality issues
- Use precision measuring equipment including verniers, micrometers and gauges
- Carry out basic machine checks and preventative maintenance
- Support continuous improvement, 5S and lean manufacturing activities
About You
You’ll ideally have previous experience in a CNC machining/engineering environment and be confident with setting and operating CNC machinery.
You should have:
- Good knowledge of CNC machining and tooling
- Ability to read engineering drawings
- Experience working to tight tolerances
- Strong inspection and measuring skills
- Good fault-finding and problem-solving ability
- High attention to detail and quality
- Experience with die-cast materials would be advantageous
- CNC programming experience (Fanuc, Siemens or Heidenhain) would be beneficial
