Our client is an established precision engineering business with over 60 years of manufacturing experience and is continuing to grow and expand.

They are looking for an experienced CNC Milling Operator / Machinist to join their team. The company operates a range of CNC milling machines, from small to large, with 3 to 5-axis capabilities, all using Heidenhain controls.

The Role

  • Manufacture precision components from supplied CAD models and engineering drawings

  • Set and operate CNC milling machines across a range of sizes and configurations

  • Confidently programme parts, either fully or partially

  • Operate more than one machine when required during busy production periods

  • Maintain programme and tooling records for components produced

  • Provide feedback to Production Engineering to improve programmes and machining methods

  • Carry out basic inspection of components to ensure quality standards are maintained

  • Work safely and contribute positively to health and safety standards on the shop floor

Skills & Experience

  • Minimum 5 years' experience working on CNC milling machines

  • Strong CNC milling background with setting and operating experience

  • Experience with Heidenhain controls

  • Experience working with 3, 4 and 5-axis CNC milling machines

  • Previous CNC programming experience

  • Ability to read and understand engineering drawings

  • Previous CAD/CAM experience would be beneficial

  • Experience with Autodesk PowerMill and/or Fusion 360 would be advantageous

  • Apprentice trained would be beneficial

You will be expected to demonstrate excellent communication skills, a professional attitude, strong attention to detail and the ability to work effectively as part of a team.
