Salary: £43,000 – £47,000 per annum, depending on experience and shift pattern
Job Type: Permanent
Hours: 38 hours per week
Shift Pattern: Rotating shift pattern - Early and late

CDM Recruitment are working exclusively with a successful precision engineering business in County Durham who are looking to recruit an experienced CNC Miller on a permanent basis.

This is a stable, long-term opportunity within a busy machine shop, working on precision engineered components to close tolerances. The role would suit an experienced CNC Miller who is confident setting and operating CNC milling machines, working from engineering drawings, making offset adjustments and quality checking their own work.

Experience with 3, 4 and 5 axis milling would be highly relevant. Fanuc or Heidenhain experience would be useful, but candidates with experience on other CNC controls will also be considered.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Set and operate CNC milling machines.
  • Work on 3, 4 and 5 axis milling machines.
  • Read and interpret technical engineering drawings.
  • Read, understand and edit CNC programmes using the machine interface.
  • Carry out quality checks on your own work.
  • Troubleshoot and adjust offset coordinates where required.
  • Deburr and fettle components.
  • Use the manufacturing system to check material availability, part requirements, routings and job information.
  • Operate within a 5S manufacturing cell environment.
  • Carry out routine maintenance and cleaning.
  • Follow health and safety requirements.
  • Work as part of a team to meet production targets.
  • Maintain accurate records where required.

The Person:

  • Experienced CNC Miller.
  • Minimum 3 years’ experience in a similar CNC milling role.
  • Strong background working with CNC milling machine tools.
  • Experience setting and operating CNC milling machines.
  • Experience with 3, 4 and 5 axis milling would be highly desirable.
  • Experience with Fanuc, Heidenhain or similar CNC controls would be advantageous, but specific control system experience is not essential. Candidates with experience on other CNC controls will also be considered.
  • Able to read and interpret technical engineering drawings.
  • Able to read and understand CNC programmes.
  • Confident making offset adjustments.
  • Able to quality check own work.
  • Good attention to detail.
  • Able to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Proactive team player with a positive attitude.
  • Engineering apprenticeship, City & Guilds, NVQ, National Technical Certificate or equivalent engineering qualification would be beneficial.
  • Right to work in the UK required.
