Skilled CNC Engineer – Miller Setter/Operator with Programming abilities
Location: Rochford
Salary: £35,000-£40,000 depending on experience
Hours: Monday to Thursday, 06:45 – 16:30
Working Week: 37 hours
We are currently recruiting for an experienced Skilled CNC Engineer / CNC Miller Setter Operator to join an established precision engineering business supplying high-quality components into the aerospace sector.
This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced CNC Miller who can confidently set and operate CNC milling machines and has the ability to amend, and ideally write, programmes at the machine.
The successful candidate will work with high-tolerance components and a range of materials including aluminium, stainless steel and Inconel.
The Role

Set and operate 1st operation CNC milling machines

Programme, amend and optimise CNC programmes at the machine

Work across 3 and 4 axis CNC milling

Set and operate Haas mills with Fanuc controls

Set and operate Bridgeport vertical mills with Heidenhain controls
-
Interpret engineering drawings and technical specifications
-
Complete first-off inspections and job-run inspections
-
Carry out buddy checks on 1st and 2nd operation parts

Work with materials including aluminium, stainless steel and Inconel

Coordinate programming and setting activities with other setters

Identify opportunities to improve manufacturing efficiency

Maintain machine efficiency against production targets and KPIs
-
Maintain a safe, clean and organised working environment
The Candidate
-
Strong experience setting and operating CNC milling machines
-
Programming or programme-editing experience
-
Experience with Fanuc and/or Heidenhain controls
-
Aerospace engineering experience is essential

Experience working with high-tolerance components
-
Strong ability to read and interpret engineering drawings
-
Confident using a range of inspection and measurement equipment
-
Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality
-
Experience with 2nd operation machining would be advantageous

Knowledge of fixed head or sliding head CNC machining would be desirable
