CNC Miller Setter Operator

Trident Recruitment is recruiting for an experienced CNC Miller Setter Operator to join a high-precision engineering business in Portsmouth, producing complex components for the motorsport sector.

This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced CNC Miller looking for a choice of shift patterns and the chance to work within a fast-paced, high-quality machining environment.

Shift Options

Late Shift

• Monday to Thursday
• 2:00pm – 10:00pm
• Four-day working week

Weekend Shift

• Friday to Sunday
• 7:00am – 7:00pm
• Three-day working week

The Role

You will be responsible for:

• Setting and operating CNC milling machines
• Working with Fanuc and/or Heidenhain controls
• Producing complex, high-precision components
• Machining to tight tolerances
• Reading and interpreting detailed engineering drawings
• Carrying out tool changes, offsets and basic machine adjustments
• Inspecting your own work using standard measuring equipment
• Maintaining consistently high standards of quality

Experience Required

We are looking for candidates with:

• Strong CNC milling experience
• CNC setting and operating experience
• Knowledge of Fanuc or Heidenhain controls
• Experience working to tight tolerances
• Ability to confidently read engineering drawings
• Precision engineering experience

Previous motorsport, Formula 1, aerospace or other high-precision machining experience would be particularly advantageous.

This is a permanent opportunity with a choice between a Monday–Thursday late shift or Friday–Sunday weekend shift.
