I am recruiting for a CNC Miller/Turner (Setter/Operator, Level 2) to join a well-established engineering manufacturer working across maritime, automotive and aerospace projects.

Key Details

  • Location: Poole, Dorset (BH17 0GG)
  • Contract: Permanent
  • Rate: £17.50 to £18.00 per hour
  • Hours: 39 per week, overtime paid at time and a half
  • Core working hours (must be worked): Monday to Thursday, 9:00am to 4:00pm
  • Typical day shift pattern: Start 7:00am to 8:00am, finish 4:00pm to 5:00pm (flexi-time around core hours)
  • Friday opening: 8:00am to 12:00pm (where required to fulfil weekly hours)


What You Will Be Doing

  • Setting and operating CNC Mill/Turn and Lathe machines using FANUC control systems to manufacture components to customer drawings and specifications.
  • Setting and operating CNC milling and turning / mill-turn machines.
  • Reading and interpreting engineering drawings and technical documentation.
  • Producing components to specification and carrying out self-inspection activities.
  • Inspecting your own work to drawing tolerances and SPC requirements.
  • Maintaining a high standard of engineering workmanship and attention to detail.
  • Carrying out tool setting and offset adjustments where required.
  • Maintaining your work area to a high standard in line with 5C/5S principles.
  • Supporting quality, productivity, and continuous improvement targets within the machining department.
  • Keeping a safe, organised, and efficient working environment.


What We Are Looking For



Skills & Qualifications

  • Proven experience setting and operating CNC milling and turning machinery.
  • Completed a recognised apprenticeship in Mechanical Engineering.
  • Strong engineering ability with a fully skilled approach to machining.
  • Confident reading engineering drawings and working to tight tolerances.
  • Quality-focused with experience carrying out self-inspection and measurement checks.
  • Experience using FANUC controls.
  • Working knowledge of Nakamura machines with bar feed systems would be advantageous, but is not essential.
  • Experience within the aerospace industry is highly desirable.
  • Sector experience across maritime, automotive, or aerospace manufacturing environments is beneficial.
