The Opportunity
We are seeking an experienced CNC Miller to set, operate and maintain high-precision CNC milling machines within a fast-paced, R&D-focused environment.
You’ll work on high-value, low-volume and one-off components, supporting machining process development, tooling optimisation and continuous improvement.
The role also offers opportunities to mentor apprentices and work closely with Engineering and tooling suppliers.
Key Responsibilities:
- Set, program and operate 3, 4 and 5-axis CNC machining centres.
- Edit CNC programmes and work with Heidenhain, Fanuc and Siemens controls.
- Set fixtures, tooling and work offsets and prove out programmes.
- Make tooling, programme and process adjustments as required.
- Manufacture R&D, prototype and production components to engineering drawings and specifications.
- Inspect components using measuring equipment and hand gauges.
- Interpret and utilise CMM inspection results.
- Support machining process and tooling/fixture development.
- Work with Engineering to improve machining methods.
- Troubleshoot machining and process-related issues.
- Manage workload to meet production and project deadlines.
- Apply 6S and Lean Manufacturing principles.
Desirable Experience:
- Transferable skills and experience supporting CNC Turning operations.
- Developing machining strategies for R&D, prototype and low-volume production.
- Producing work instructions, process documentation and change orders.
- Implementing corrective actions and monitoring process improvements.
- Working with production planning teams to balance workload and turnaround times.
