CNC Programmer in Portsmouth, Hampshire

Location: Portsmouth
Hourly Rate: £19.90 per hour - 37 hours per week

The Role

As a CNC Programmer, you will be responsible for creating, developing and optimising CNC programs to support the manufacture of precision-engineered components. Working closely with the production and engineering teams, you will ensure programmes are efficient, accurate and capable of meeting customer quality requirements.

Key Responsibilities

• Creating and editing CNC programmes for a variety of machining centres
• Supporting the introduction of new products from design through to manufacture
• Selecting tooling, speeds and feeds to maximise machining efficiency
• Reading and interpreting engineering drawings and technical specifications
• Troubleshooting manufacturing and machining issues
• Supporting machine set-up activities where required
• Driving continuous improvement initiatives to reduce cycle times and improve quality
• Ensuring all work is carried out in line with quality and health & safety standards

About You

The successful CNC Programmer will ideally have:

• Previous experience programming CNC machinery within a precision engineering environment
• Experience with Fanuc, Heidenhain, Mazatrol or similar controls
• Strong understanding of machining processes and cutting tools
• Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings and CAD data
• Experience of working with tight tolerances and complex components
• Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail
• A proactive approach and the ability to work both independently and as part of a team
