CNC Turner – Mazak Lathe Programming & Machining
My client are looking for a highly skilled and motivated CNC Turner, with strong experience in Mazak lathe programming and machining, to join their high-performance engineering team.
The successful candidate will be responsible for programming, setting and operating Mazak CNC lathes to manufacture high-precision components. Working within a technically demanding and fast-paced environment, the role requires a high level of accuracy, attention to detail and a proactive approach to problem solving.
Responsibilities
CNC Machining & Programming
• Programming, setting and operating Mazak CNC lathes using Mazatrol
• Producing precision components to tight engineering tolerances
• Selecting appropriate cutting tools, workholding and machining strategies
• Setting tooling, offsets and work coordinates accurately
• Reading and interpreting detailed engineering drawings and specifications
• Carrying out first-off and in-process inspection of machined components
• Using precision measuring equipment and hand tools to verify component dimensions
• Identifying and resolving machining, tooling and programming issues
• Making programme adjustments and optimisations to improve component quality and machining efficiency
• Machining a range of materials including aluminium, stainless steel, steel and titanium
• Supporting both one-off/R&D manufacture and small-batch production
• Maintaining high standards of housekeeping, machine care and workshop safety
Background & Experience
• Minimum 3 years' experience programming, setting and operating Mazak CNC lathes using Mazatrol
• Strong practical experience in CNC turning and precision machining
• Proven ability to programme and modify Mazatrol programmes at the machine
• Experience working within R&D, prototype and/or small-batch production environments
• Proven ability to machine components to tight tolerances and high-quality standards
• Strong experience reading and interpreting engineering drawings
• Confident use of precision measuring equipment and inspection techniques
• Experience machining aluminium, stainless steel, steel and titanium
• Hands-on experience with manual lathes and milling machines
• Strong understanding of tooling, workholding, feeds, speeds and cutting strategies
• Experience working within a high-performance engineering, manufacturing, aerospace, automotive, motorsport or similarly demanding environment would be advantageous
• Experience with CNC Mill/Turn machines using Mazatrol would be an advantage
• Strong mechanical understanding, with the ability to diagnose and repair precision components under time pressure

- From £42,000 DOE
- Hours of Work- 40hrs (7am-4pm Monday- Thursday 7am-1pm Friday)
