CNC Turner Programmer Setter

The Opportunity
Our client is seeking an experienced Cnc Turner Programmer Setter to join a busy machine shop operation. The successful candidate will take responsibility for programming, setting and operating CNC lathes, producing components accurately and efficiently while maintaining required production, quality and safety standards.
The Package

- 20 days’ annual leave, increasing by 1 day for each year of service, up to a maximum of 25 days.

Key Responsibilities for the Cnc Turner Programmer Setter
- Plan machining activities from work orders, engineering drawings, materials, geometric dimensions and tolerances.
- Programme CNC lathes, including zero/reference points, tool registers, offsets and compensation, and prove part programmes.
- Set machines using appropriate chucks, collets, tooling, attachments, stops and bar-feeding equipment.
- Verify machine settings by checking positions, first-off components and sample workpieces against production and quality requirements.
- Monitor machining operations, take measurements, identify faults and make appropriate control, tooling or programme adjustments.
- Carry out routine preventative maintenance and report equipment faults requiring repair.
- Complete production, quality and job documentation accurately, including relevant job cards, timesheets and system records.
- Work safely in line with company procedures and contribute to continuous improvement, efficiency and cost-reduction activities.
Skills & Experience
- Ability to read, understand and edit ISO programmes for CNC turning.
- ISO control programming capability would be a distinct advantage.
- Experience programming and setting live tooling and sub-spindles would be advantageous.
- Strong technical engineering knowledge, including interpreting engineering drawings and GD&T features.
- Ability to select suitable tooling and inserts to achieve the required component features.
- Experienced problem solver with excellent attention to detail and good organisational and communication skills.
- Time-served apprenticeship or a minimum of three years' relevant CNC machining experience.
- Knowledge of machining PTFE and CMM experience would be advantageous.
Qualifications required for the Cnc Turner Programmer Setter
An HNC/HND in Mechanical or Manufacturing Engineering is preferred.
