Commercial Director in Coventry, West Midlands

We're recruiting a Commercial Director for a large UK distribution business.

This is a senior leadership role with responsibility for shaping and delivering the commercial strategy across a significant product portfolio. You'll take ownership of category performance, pricing, product range and supplier relationships, with a clear focus on profitable growth and margin performance.

The role requires someone who can combine commercial strategy with strong execution. You'll work across the wider business to understand market and customer requirements, identify opportunities for growth and ensure the commercial proposition remains competitive.

The role

You'll be responsible for:

Leading the commercial strategy across a significant product portfolio

Owning pricing, range and category performance

Developing strategic supplier relationships and commercial agreements

Driving sales, margin and profitable growth

Using market, customer and performance insight to identify commercial opportunities

Working closely with senior stakeholders across sales, operations and other functions

Developing and leading a high-performing commercial team

Ensuring commercial plans translate into effective execution across the wider business

What we're looking for

We're looking for an established senior commercial leader with experience in a sizeable, multi-site distribution or retail organisation.

You'll ideally bring:

Significant commercial leadership experience within distribution, wholesale or retail

Strong experience across category management, pricing and supplier management

A track record of improving commercial and margin performance

Strong negotiation and supplier relationship management skills

Experience developing and implementing commercial strategy

The ability to operate effectively across a complex, multi-site business

Strong leadership skills with experience developing commercial teams

This would suit someone currently operating at Commercial Director, Trading Director, Category Director or a similar senior commercial level who is comfortable owning both strategy and delivery.
