The Opportunity
PDA Search & Selection is recruiting an experienced Commercial Gas Engineer to join a well-established engineering business delivering service, maintenance and installation across the North West. Covering Manchester, Liverpool and the surrounding areas, this is a field-based role offering varied, technically demanding work across a broad portfolio of commercial sites.
This is an excellent opportunity for a time-served commercial gas engineer to join a supportive team, work on complex commercial plant, and take ownership of fault diagnosis and technical problem-solving on site.
The Role
- Carry out service, maintenance and installation work on commercial gas systems and plant.
- Diagnose and resolve faults on complex commercial equipment, providing technical support where required.
- Work across a range of commercial sites, delivering a high standard of workmanship and compliance.
- Maintain accurate records and ensure all work meets current regulations and safety standards.
Essential Requirements
Applicants must be fully qualified to work on commercial gas systems and hold either the CCN1 and CODNCO1 route, or COCN1 — both routes into commercial gas are equally welcomed.
- A minimum of five years' experience working in a commercial gas role since gaining commercial qualifications (significantly more experience is preferred).
- A well-rounded commercial gas background spanning service, maintenance and installation.
- Confidence working on complex plant, fault diagnosis and providing technical support.
- Current ACS qualifications, including as applicable: CIGA1, ICPN1, TPCP1A and TPCP1, CCP1, CDGA1, CORT1, DAH1.
- G3 Unvented Hot Water Systems.
- Full UK driving licence (clean if possible).
- Willingness to undergo an Enhanced DBS check, as work may include schools, defence, police and fire stations, and occasionally prisons.
Desirable Qualifications
The following are advantageous but not essential — our client will consider applications on overall commercial experience, technical ability and suitability:
- Commercial catering (CCCN1, COMCAT 1/2/3/5) and commercial laundry (CCLNG1, CLE1).
- Commercial LPG (CoLP1) and LPG changeover qualifications; gas boosters (BMP1).
- Electrical: 18th Edition (BS 7671), City & Guilds 2391 Inspection & Testing, electrical fault finding.
- F-Gas Category I, air conditioning service and maintenance, heat pump training, BMS.
- Manufacturer training (Hamworthy, Ideal Commercial, Viessmann, Remeha, Worcester Bosch Commercial, Andrews Water Heaters, Vaillant Commercial).
- L8 awareness, TMV servicing, heating water quality management.
- IOSH Working Safely, IPAF, PASMA, confined spaces.
