Commercial Manager - Finance Business Partner in Wantage

We are seeking an experienced and commercially minded Finance Business Partner Manager to provide strategic financial leadership to technical and operational functions within a high-performance engineering environment. Acting as a trusted advisor to senior leaders, you will help shape key business decisions, ensure financial discipline within a regulated cost environment, and maximise the value of every investment made to support operational performance and long-term success.

In this highly visible role, offered on a hybrid basis, you will partner closely with executive stakeholders, delivering meaningful financial insight, robust forecasting, and investment appraisal to support both short and long-term objectives. You will also lead and develop a Finance Business Partner while driving process improvements, automation, and AI-enabled efficiencies across the finance function.

Key Responsibilities

• Partner with senior leadership teams to influence strategic decisions on cost, investment, and performance.
• Deliver accurate financial reporting, forecasting, annual operating plans, and long-term financial plans.
• Provide clear recommendations on cost allocation, investment priorities, and resource trade-offs.
• Develop and evaluate business cases, ensuring benefits are tracked and realised.
• Manage financial planning and headcount forecasting across technical and operational functions.
• Ensure compliance with financial governance requirements and relevant regulations.
• Lead, coach, and develop a Finance Business Partner.
• Drive continuous improvement through automation, AI adoption, and enhanced self-service reporting.
• Contribute to the wider Finance leadership team and provide support to the Head of Finance as required.

About You

You are a qualified accountant (ACA, ACCA, or CIMA) with significant experience partnering senior stakeholders in complex, fast-paced environments. You combine strong commercial acumen with excellent financial planning and analytical skills and have the confidence to challenge, influence, and guide business leaders. You are an effective people leader who can translate financial insight into strategic recommendations and drive meaningful business outcomes.
