Commercial Manager – Rail & Infrastructure

Red Sky Personnel is recruiting for an experienced Commercial Manager to join a growing infrastructure contractor delivering major rail and civil engineering projects across Ireland.

The successful candidate will take ownership of the commercial function across the Irish operations, working across multiple major clients and long-term frameworks, including rail infrastructure programmes.

The business is currently involved in significant rail investment programmes, alongside other infrastructure projects and frameworks.

This isn't simply a role to manage the existing workload. The business is looking for someone who can strengthen and stabilise the commercial function, establish robust processes and controls, develop the team and ensure the business is commercially prepared to capitalise on a substantial pipeline of work expected over the next 12–18 months.

You will also be hands-on with clients, stakeholders and project teams, making this an excellent opportunity for someone who wants genuine influence within a growing business.

Key responsibilities:

• Lead the commercial function across the Irish business and multiple projects/frameworks
• Manage, mentor and develop the commercial team
• Work closely with the Operations Director and senior leadership team
• Build strong relationships with key clients and stakeholders
• Establish and improve commercial processes, controls and reporting
• Lead projects commercially from contract award through to final account
• Manage monthly CVRs, forecasting, cash flow, margins and project performance
• Oversee NEC and other contract administration
• Manage change, compensation events, variations, claims and commercial risk
• Lead subcontract procurement, negotiation and supply-chain management
• Support tendering, pre-construction and commercial strategy
• Ensure the business is commercially positioned for its growing pipeline of work

About you:

• Experienced Commercial Manager or Senior Commercial professional
• Strong background within heavy civil engineering, rail, infrastructure, utilities or similar major projects
• Ideally experienced within rail infrastructure
• Strong NEC contract knowledge
• Proven experience managing multiple projects and commercial teams
• Strong CVR, forecasting, cost-control and commercial reporting experience
• Confident dealing directly with clients and senior stakeholders
• Able to implement and improve commercial processes rather than simply maintain existing systems
• Degree qualified in Quantity Surveying, Commercial Management or a related discipline
• Full driving licence and comfortable travelling to projects across Ireland when require
