Your new company
A leading global life sciences organisation is investing heavily in a brand-new R&D and laboratory campus and is looking to appoint an experienced Project / Commissioning Engineer to support the delivery of multiple facilities.
Working as part of a multidisciplinary project team, you will play a key role in ensuring the laboratory and building infrastructure is ready for occupation, coordinating technical activities, resolving project issues and supporting the successful handover of the facility to end users.

Your new role
This is a client-side role focused on project delivery, coordination and operational readiness rather than hands-on commissioning.Working closely with contractors, consultants, vendors and laboratory stakeholders, you will help drive the delivery of several new laboratory and research buildings, ensuring systems, facilities and supporting infrastructure are ready for occupation and operational use.Key responsibilities include:

  • Coordinating activities across HVAC, building services, utilities, laboratory infrastructure and supporting facility systems.
  • Supporting technical reviews, design queries and RFIs.
  • Driving project actions and removing blockers to maintain programme delivery.
  • Coordinating contractors, vendors and internal stakeholders.
  • Supporting pre-start-up safety reviews (PSSR) and operational readiness activities.
  • Managing punch list items, defects and technical issues through to closure.
  • Assisting with handover planning and ensuring facilities are ready for occupation.
  • Providing project updates and communicating progress to key stakeholders.

What you'll need to succeed

  • Experience delivering complex capital projects within laboratory, pharmaceutical, biotechnology, healthcare, research or other highly regulated technical environments.
  • A strong understanding of MEP systems, building services and technical facility infrastructure.
  • Experience working with HVAC systems, utilities, BMS/EMS systems and supporting mechanical or electrical plant.
  • Exposure to laboratory environments, including specialist laboratory infrastructure such as fume cupboards, laboratory gases, LEV systems, washers, heat pumps, boilers or similar facility systems.
  • Experience coordinating contractors, vendors and multidisciplinary project teams.
  • The ability to interpret engineering drawings, technical specifications and project documentation.
  • Experience supporting facility readiness, startup, handover or operational readiness activities.
  • Experience managing technical queries, design reviews, RFIs, punch-list items and project closeout activities.
  • Strong communication, organisation and stakeholder management skills.
  • A proactive approach with the ability to solve problems, remove blockers and drive projects forward.
  • Engineering degree, HND or equivalent technical qualification desirable.
