Commissioning Manager

Borne Resourcing Limited

M&E Commissioning Manager | City of London

Contract | October 2026 – February 2027

We are looking for an experienced M&E Commissioning Manager to join a £4m M&E project in the City of London, currently approximately 50% through delivery.

The project is a private healthcare diagnostics facility, so previous healthcare, hospital, laboratory or similarly technically demanding experience would be particularly useful.

This is very much a hands-on commissioning management role. Not physically hands-on with the systems, but someone who is visible on site, knows exactly where everything is up to and keeps the commissioning process moving rather than managing it from behind a desk.

The role
  • You will take responsibility for planning, coordinating and managing the testing and commissioning process across the M&E installation, including:
  • Ventilation and associated controls
  • Chilled water systems
  • Electrical systems
  • Testing, commissioning and witnessing regimes
  • Commissioning programmes and sequencing
  • Coordination of specialist commissioning contractors
  • Monitoring subcontractor progress against programme
  • Identifying issues, delays and potential commissioning clashes early
  • Making adjustments to sequencing and commissioning activities where required
  • Ensuring commissioning information, results and documentation are properly recorded
  • Driving outstanding works through to completion and handover
You will work closely with the project team, M&E subcontractors and specialist commissioning companies to make sure everyone is hitting agreed dates and that problems are dealt with before they become programme issues.

You will ideally have:
  • Strong experience as an M&E Commissioning Manager / Commissioning Manager
  • Good working knowledge of mechanical and electrical building services
  • Experience preparing and managing testing and commissioning regimes
  • Previous healthcare experience would be highly advantageous
  • Experience working on technically demanding fit-out or refurbishment projects
  • The confidence to challenge subcontractors and specialist commissioning companies where necessary
  • A proactive approach – someone who walks the job, asks questions and stays ahead of the programme
This would suit someone who likes being close to the action and takes ownership of the commissioning process rather than waiting for problems to land on their desk.

If this M&E Commissioning Manager role sounds like you or someone you know, feel free to get in touch.
