This is an outstanding opportunity to transition into Configuration Management a specialist discipline that sits at the heart of delivering one of the UK's most complex engineering programmes.
HS2 is looking for an organised, detail-oriented professional with strong document management experience who understands technical change and basic understanding of project baselines who wants to develop into Configuration Management. Full support and training will be provided, making this an ideal move for someone looking to broaden their technical career.
The Opportunity
Working within HS2's Systems Integration Team, you'll support the Configuration Managers responsible for maintaining the technical integrity of Britain's new high-speed railway.
Rather than simply controlling documents, you'll become involved in managing technical change, ensuring engineering information is controlled, approved and implemented correctly throughout the programme lifecycle.
You'll coordinate Technical Change Requests, maintain engineering baselines, support governance processes and work closely with engineers, project managers and delivery teams across one of Europe's largest infrastructure programmes.
This is an excellent opportunity to gain exposure to Systems Engineering, Technical Assurance, Engineering Governance and Configuration Management skills that are highly sought after across rail, aerospace, defence, nuclear and other complex engineering sectors.
What You'll Be Doing
You'll become the focal point for technical change administration and configuration control across the programme, including:
- Managing Technical Change Requests (TCRs) and Technical Authority Communications (TACs)
- Registering and controlling engineering change documentation within the configuration management system
- Reviewing submissions to ensure they meet governance and quality requirements
- Supporting engineering governance boards by preparing technical change packs
- Maintaining technical registers and tracking change through to implementation
- Supporting Configuration Managers with contract baseline management
- Coordinating technical changes with engineering, project controls and delivery teams
- Producing status reports and monitoring change progress against programme milestones
- Supporting configuration audits and maintaining accurate engineering records
- Assisting with training and communication relating to configuration and technical change processes
- Ensuring documentation complies with ISO standards and Configuration Management procedures
Who We're Looking For
This role would suit an experienced:
Document Controller, Senior Document Controller, Engineering Document Controller, Technical Administrator, Information Controller, Project Information Coordinator, Engineering Coordinator, Design Coordinator who is looking to develop into Configuration Management.
You don't need previous Configuration Management experience we're looking for someone with strong document control fundamentals and understands:- Change management / technical change requests and a basic understanding of how project baselines work.
Essential Experience
- Experience working as a Document Controller or within Technical Document Management.
- Experience managing engineering or project documentation within a controlled environment.
- Understanding of document management systems and information control processes.
- Exposure to document revisions, approvals and version control.
- Experience supporting engineering, construction or infrastructure projects.
- Good organisational skills with excellent attention to detail.
- Strong communication and stakeholder management skills.
- Ability to manage multiple priorities within a structured environment.
- Proficient with Microsoft Office.
- Understand project Baselines
- Technical Change Requests (TCR’s)
Desirable Experience
Any exposure to the following would be advantageous
- Engineering Change Control
- Configuration Management
- ISO 10007 or other Configuration Management standards
- Engineering Quality Assurance
- Systems Engineering
- Bentley eB, ProjectWise, Aconex, Asite, Viewpoint, SharePoint or other document management systems
- Rail, infrastructure, defence, aerospace, nuclear or other highly regulated industries
