Configuration Engineer

Purpose

- Supporting the Configuration Manager in the management activity that applies technical and administrative direction over the life cycle of ACS products.

- Covering key areas of configuration management planning, change control, and Configuration Status Account

Key Responsibilities

- Configuration Management Planning

- Supporting the EDES (Airbus) / SCN (Boeing) / ACS (UK) Ltd change process

- Reviewing company MPS in alignment with EDES/SCN/ACS point of embodiment

- Producing Impact Assessments to ensure robust and lowest impact points of embodiment along with buy in from the rest of the business.

- Change Control.

- Processing Change Requests

- Supporting weekly Change Review Board (CRB)

- Updating DOCR adding and changing CR budgets in alignment with approved CRs

- Configuration Status Accounting

- Reporting As Designed – As Planned – As Built configurations.

- Interrogating Evolution, 3Dx and OCE to confirm the above statuses.

- Working with Engineering, Planning, Operations and Quality to resolve any configuration findings.

- Development of better ways of working

- Working with IT to develop better ways of extracting key information from the various systems to support standard Configuration Management Reporting

- Achievement of On Time Delivery (OTD) for Configuration Deliverable data

Knowledge, Education & Experience

Knowledge:

- Experience in manufacturing & design processes.

- Experience delivering and reporting of KPIs.

- Strong development and problem-solving skills.

- Excellent communication skills with the ability to communicate across multiple disciplines.

- Demonstrate good understanding of Engineering and Production practices.

- Proficient in general computer skills (MS-Word, Excel, Adobe, photo software, etc.)

Education:

- Degree, HND, other similar qualification in engineering or equivalent experience in aircraft industry.

Skills and competencies required:

- Proficient understanding of Configuration Management practices.

- Good analytical skills.

- Ability to extract key data from the company systems to support clear reporting.

- Capable of conveying clearly and concisely complex issues with all members of the design and production organisation.

- Good interpersonal skills, an ability to deal effectively with and coordinate multi disciplined teams.

- Ability to understand engineering drawings, specifications and processes.

- Receptive to new ideas and concepts and capable of absorbing and interpreting input from other departments.

- Supports team working to help strengthen relationships.

- Understanding of health and safety practices.

- Professional and works ethically and with integrity in the role.
