A Fantastic Opportunity: Construction Coordinator Team Leader
We have an exciting opportunity for an experienced Construction Team Leader to join our Business Connections team.
This is a pivotal leadership role where you'll oversee a team of Engineers and Coordinators, ensuring the successful delivery of customer connections projects while driving exceptional customer service, operational performance, and commercial outcomes. You'll play a key role in shaping the customer journey, supporting the delivery of regional work programmes, and creating an environment where colleagues can thrive and achieve their full potential.

As Construction Team Leader, you'll take ownership of the regional Business Connections construction work programme, ensuring projects are delivered safely, efficiently, and in line with customer expectations.
Working closely with Programme Managers and a wide range of internal and external stakeholders, you'll monitor workload demands, identify and mitigate risks, and drive performance across the team. You'll be responsible for fostering a high-performing culture where continuous improvement, accountability, and customer focus are at the heart of everything we do.
A significant part of the role involves leading and developing your team through coaching, mentoring, performance management, and regular one-to-one meetings. You'll help individuals build their skills and confidence while ensuring objectives are achieved and development opportunities are maximised.
You'll also oversee customer enquiries and escalations, ensuring issues are resolved effectively and customer satisfaction remains a key priority throughout the construction phase of every project.
What you’ll be doing
Lead, motivate, and develop a team of Engineers and Coordinators to deliver excellent project outcomes.
Manage the successful delivery of the regional Business Connections construction programme.
Ensure a seamless customer journey throughout the construction phase of projects.
Monitor team performance, workload, risks, and project progress, taking action where required.
Support the resolution of customer enquiries, complaints, and escalations.
Build strong relationships with internal teams, contractors, customers, and stakeholders.
Identify training and development opportunities to enhance team capability.
Produce management reports and performance information to support decision-making.
Ensure compliance with health and safety requirements, industry regulations, and company standards.
Drive commercial performance and support effective budget management.
What we’re looking for
We're looking for a motivated leader with strong technical knowledge, commercial awareness, and a passion for delivering outstanding customer service.
You must hold an HNC (or equivalent) in Electrical Engineering and have experience managing electrical distribution or construction projects. You'll be comfortable working in a fast-paced environment, balancing multiple priorities while supporting and developing a high-performing team.
You'll bring a combination of technical expertise, leadership capability, and strong stakeholder management skills, together with the confidence to make decisions, influence others, and drive positive outcomes.
Essential skills and experience
- HNC qualification in Electrical Engineering or equivalent.
- Experience managing electrical distribution and construction projects.
- Experience of or ability to work as a mentor to more junior team members.
- Excellent planning, organisational, and project management skills.
- Ability to manage demanding customers and manage expectations.
- Knowledge of relevant technical and regulatory codes of practice.
- Strong understanding of health and safety compliance requirements.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities with great attention to detail.
- Ability to manage competing priorities and deliver to challenging deadlines.
- Proven ability to build effective relationships and influence stakeholders at all levels.
Desirable
- HV Operational Authorisation (SAP) or willingness to work towards achieving it.
- Formal Project Management qualification.
- Experience using MS Project.
- Knowledge of risk and issue management processes.
- Experience with document control systems and processes.
- Familiarity with CPM systems.
