The Opportunity
An exciting opportunity has arisen for an experienced Construction Manager to join a major industrial megaproject. This role will play a key part in the successful delivery of a large-scale heavy industrial development, overseeing construction activities from execution through to completion.
Working closely with engineering, project delivery, and stakeholder teams, the Construction Manager will lead site operations, ensuring the project is delivered safely, on time, within budget, and to the highest quality standards.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead and manage all on-site construction activities throughout the project lifecycle.
- Coordinate multidisciplinary teams across engineering, construction, logistics, and project controls functions.
- Develop, manage, and optimise construction programmes and resource plans.
- Monitor project progress against key milestones and implement corrective actions where required.
- Manage budgets, costs, procurement activities, and subcontractor performance.
- Ensure compliance with project specifications, industry standards, and quality requirements.
- Drive a strong health, safety, and environmental culture across site operations.
- Identify, assess, and mitigate project risks affecting programme, cost, or quality.
- Build and maintain effective relationships with contractors, project teams, and key stakeholders.
- Provide regular progress reporting, highlighting achievements, challenges, and mitigation strategies.
Candidate Requirements
The successful candidate will have:
- Significant experience delivering large-scale industrial or heavy engineering construction projects.
- Strong knowledge of steel structures, fabrication, welding, and industrial facility construction.
- Proven experience leading large multidisciplinary teams within complex construction environments.
- Strong understanding of health, safety, and environmental regulations.
- Experience using construction planning and project management software such as Primavera P6 and MS Project.
- Excellent stakeholder management, communication, and negotiation skills.
- Ability to operate effectively in fast-paced, high-pressure project environments.
Qualifications
- Degree qualified in Civil Engineering, Construction Management, or a related discipline.
- Professional project management qualifications (PMP, PRINCE2, or equivalent) are highly desirable.
- Additional construction, health & safety, or engineering certifications would be advantageous.
