A leading civil engineering and infrastructure contractor is looking to recruit a Planner / Senior Planner to support the successful delivery of projects across Wales and the wider UK.

The business delivers complex projects across sectors including water, utilities, energy, marine, highways and infrastructure, combining strong engineering expertise with a directly employed workforce and extensive in-house plant resources. With a healthy pipeline of secured work and continued growth across multiple sectors, they are seeking a Senior Planner to play a key role in project delivery from tender stage through to completion.

This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced Planner or Senior Planner, or for an Engineer, Sub Agent or Site Manager with strong planning experience looking to move into a dedicated planning role while remaining closely involved in project delivery.

The Role

Working closely with operational, commercial and client teams, you will be responsible for developing, managing and monitoring project programmes, ensuring projects are delivered safely, efficiently and in accordance with contractual requirements.

Key Responsibilities

  • Developing and maintaining construction programmes throughout the project lifecycle
  • Producing, updating and monitoring NEC contract programmes
  • Tracking progress and identifying programme risks, opportunities and constraints
  • Working with project teams to develop mitigation and recovery strategies where required
  • Assessing programme impacts associated with compensation events and project changes
  • Supporting commercial teams with programme reporting and analysis
  • Developing tender, pre-construction and delivery programmes
  • Providing programme updates and forecasts to clients and senior stakeholders
  • Supporting successful project delivery through effective planning and programme management

Requirements

  • Previous experience as a Planner or Senior Planner within civil engineering, infrastructure, utilities, water, highways, energy or major construction projects
  • Strong understanding of project planning and programme management principles
  • Experience developing and maintaining construction programmes throughout the project lifecycle
  • Ability to analyse project information and identify programme risks and opportunities
  • Strong communication and stakeholder management skills
  • Proactive and solutions-focused approach
  • Full UK driving licence

Desirable

  • Experience working under NEC3 or NEC4 contracts
  • Experience using Primavera P6 and/or Microsoft Project
  • Background in civil engineering, site engineering, site management or project management
  • Experience delivering water, utilities, highways, energy, marine or infrastructure projects

  • £55,000 - £70,000 basic salary (depending on experience)
