Full Time | Office /Site Based | 37.5 hours per week within a 7.30am – 5.30pm working window (Teams typically work 8.30am – 5.00pm, with site operatives starting and finishing earlier)

About the Company
Our client is a well-established, family-owned construction business with over 150 years of industry experience. Renowned for delivering high-quality projects across the commercial, education, industrial, heritage, blue light and leisure sectors, they work with both public and private sector clients throughout the Home Counties, Northamptonshire, Cambridgeshire, Oxfordshire and North London.
Operating through two specialist divisions, Small Works & Frameworks (up to £1m) and Main Contracts (up to £15m), the business continues to grow and expand its portfolio of successful projects.
As a result of this continued growth, they are seeking an experienced Small Works & Frameworks Contracts Manager to join their friendly and collaborative team on a permanent basis.
This is a varied and hands-on role responsible for managing multiple construction projects valued up to £1m. You will oversee project delivery from inception through to completion, maintaining strong client relationships, ensuring commercial performance and driving the highest standards of quality, health and safety across all sites.
Key Responsibilities
- Manage quality, compliance, customer service, stakeholder engagement and commercial performance across multiple contracts.
- Identify project risks and opportunities, implementing effective mitigation strategies where required.
- Lead, support and mentor site managers, working foremen, tradespeople and subcontractors.
- Monitor project progress, performance and delivery against programme objectives.
- Develop and maintain strong relationships with clients through regular communication and site visits.
- Coordinate closely with suppliers, subcontractors and operational teams to ensure efficient project delivery.
- Oversee on-site and off-site construction activities, ensuring compliance with all relevant building regulations and safety requirements.
- Manage multiple projects simultaneously, working effectively with both internal and external stakeholders.
- Collaborate with commercial teams to maintain contract controls and maximise project performance.
- Support estimating teams by providing technical input, programme information and tender documentation.
- Assist senior management with project-related activities and business objectives when required.
Skills & Experience
- Previous experience managing construction projects within a main contractor environment.
- Strong understanding of construction contracts and associated commercial risks.
- Excellent communication and relationship-building skills with clients, stakeholders and project teams.
- Ability to present project plans and technical information clearly and accurately.
- Sound knowledge of current construction legislation, regulations and industry best practice.
- Experience developing tender programmes, construction programmes and logistics plans.
Qualifications & Requirements
- HND, NVQ, Degree or equivalent construction-related qualification, or qualified through relevant industry experience.
- Valid CSCS card (Black/Professional Qualification preferred).
- SMSTS certification.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office and planning software, including Asta Powerproject.
