We're working with an established and growing roofing and construction contractor in Sussex who are looking to appoint an experienced Contracts Manager to join their team. The business is in an exciting phase of growth, having recently secured a number of major projects, and partners with some of the largest main contractors in the UK across the Commercial, Leisure, Industrial, Education, Retail, Public Sector, and MOD markets.

This is a great opportunity for a construction professional with a strong background in contracts management to join a business with a growing and diversifying client base, working closely with the Directors to help secure further work and build an established pipeline.

The Role

As Contracts Manager, you will be responsible for the full contracts management process across construction projects, including work estimating and developing relationships with clients and suppliers to help secure further work. You'll coordinate and oversee multiple projects simultaneously from inception to completion, ensuring they are delivered safely, on programme, and to specification. Experience of roofing works would be an advantage, but is not essential.

Key Responsibilities

  • Work with the Directors of the business to ensure that all contract deliverables are met
  • Review, negotiate, and manage contracts related to construction projects, ensuring compliance with legal and company standards
  • Review contract terms, conditions, and specifications to mitigate risks and maximise project profitability
  • Coordinate and oversee multiple construction projects simultaneously from inception to completion
  • Develop project plans, timelines, and budgets in alignment with contractual requirements and client expectations
  • Ensure all health and safety standards on each project are met
  • Ensure that work is carried out in strict accordance with Method Statements and Risk Assessments
  • Assess tasks to produce, amend, or add to Method Statements and Risk Assessments as required
  • Organise and supervise plant, craneage, materials, labour, and subcontractors to meet programme requirements
  • Check quality, ensuring that work conforms with specification and drawings
  • Attend meetings with clients and main contractors as required
  • Supervise subcontract labour to ensure work meets required standards

About You

  • Proven experience as a Contracts Manager within the construction industry
  • Strong understanding of construction contracts, legal terminology, and regulations
  • Exceptional project management skills with the ability to manage multiple projects concurrently
  • Adaptable, detail-focused, and strong organisational skills

You'll have a solid background within the construction sector, and experience of roofing projects would be highly beneficial, though candidates from a broader construction contracts background are also encouraged to apply.
