Our client, Ringway, a trusted provider of highways services to the public sector, is seeking a Contracts Manager to join their team in Guildford.

This is an excellent opportunity to play a key role in the delivery of high-profile highways projects. As a Contracts Manager, you will take ownership of the operational, commercial and safety performance of multiple schemes, working closely with clients, colleagues and supply chain partners to deliver successful outcomes.

You will oversee projects from planning through to completion, ensuring works are delivered safely, efficiently and to a high standard. The role offers the chance to contribute to innovative infrastructure solutions while leading teams and building strong stakeholder relationships.

Job Description

As Contracts Manager, you will be responsible for managing the delivery of highways surfacing and capital works schemes. You will lead project performance across planning, programming, commercial management and site operations, ensuring projects are completed safely, within budget and to agreed timescales.

Working closely with clients and delivery teams, you will provide technical guidance, manage contractual requirements and support effective stakeholder engagement. You will also play an important role in maintaining quality standards, driving continuous improvement and creating a positive team culture.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead the delivery of highways projects from planning through to completion.
  • Manage project programmes, budgets and operational performance.
  • Ensure projects are delivered safely, efficiently and to the required quality standards.
  • Oversee health and safety compliance, including CDM requirements.
  • Build and maintain positive relationships with clients and supply chain partners.
  • Support stakeholder communications and coordinate project correspondence.
  • Manage contractual administration, site documentation and project records.
  • Lead and develop site teams, ensuring clear direction and support.
  • Monitor project performance, conduct inspections and drive continuous improvement.
  • Provide practical solutions to technical challenges during project delivery.

Essential Skills and Requirements

  • Strong understanding of CDM regulations and their application within project delivery.
  • SMSTS certification.
  • Sound knowledge of highways regulations, including TMA and NRSWA requirements.
  • Experience managing highways projects across operational, commercial and safety functions.
  • Strong communication skills, both written and verbal.
  • Excellent planning, organisation and problem-solving abilities.
  • Commercial awareness and confidence managing project finances.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications.
  • Ability to motivate teams and build effective working relationships.
  • Full UK driving licence.
