Melton Mowbray · Permanent
We are working with an established, nationwide passive fire protection contractor looking to appoint an experienced Contracts Manager to join their growing team.
This is an opportunity to take ownership of a varied portfolio of passive fire protection projects, overseeing contracts from initial handover through to successful completion. Projects range from smaller, short-duration works to multi-million-pound contracts, with typical values of £100k–£200k.
Working alongside an established team of Contracts Managers, you will be responsible for managing multiple live projects simultaneously, maintaining strong client relationships and ensuring works are delivered safely, commercially and to the required quality standards.
Key responsibilities
-
Manage multiple passive fire protection contracts from pre-construction handover through to completion.
-
Oversee the delivery of fire stopping, cavity barriers, intumescent coatings and associated passive fire protection works.
-
Coordinate labour requirements, working collaboratively with fellow Contracts Managers and site-based management teams.
-
Manage project programmes, resources, materials and subcontractors to ensure efficient delivery.
-
Act as the primary point of contact for clients, attending progress meetings and maintaining strong working relationships.
-
Monitor project budgets, costs and commercial performance, including variations, applications for payment and CVR reporting.
-
Ensure all works are delivered in accordance with relevant fire safety regulations, specifications and quality standards.
-
Oversee site health and safety compliance, including RAMS, inspections and SHEQ requirements.
-
Produce regular project updates, progress reports and commercial information for senior management.
-
Identify and resolve operational challenges to maintain project progress and profitability.
About you
We are particularly interested in speaking with experienced Contracts Managers who have a proven track record delivering passive fire protection projects, ideally with a strong background in fire stopping and compartmentation.
The ideal candidate will demonstrate
-
Previous experience as a Contracts Manager within passive fire protection, fire stopping or a closely related construction discipline.
-
A strong understanding of construction project delivery, site operations and health and safety requirements.
-
Experience managing multiple contracts simultaneously, ideally across different locations.
-
Commercial awareness, including budget management, variations, cost control and project reporting.
-
Strong organisational and communication skills, with the ability to manage client relationships effectively.
-
Experience coordinating site teams, subcontractors and labour resources.
-
The ability to work independently, prioritise competing demands and resolve issues proactively.
-
Willingness to travel nationally to oversee project delivery.
Experience working with Tier 1 contractors or delivering projects within major construction frameworks would be advantageous.
While passive fire protection experience is strongly preferred, applications from experienced construction Contracts Managers with relevant specialist subcontracting backgrounds will also be considered.
The role and working environment
You will join an established contracts management team, working collaboratively to deliver projects across the UK.
Site operations are supported by Site Managers and Working Foremen, allowing you to focus on overall contract delivery, client management, programme coordination and commercial performance.
The role is based from the company's Melton Mowbray office, with occasional visits to a satellite office in Worcestershire and regular travel to project sites nationwide.
There is also the option to work from home one day per week.
