Rubicon Consulting is currently recruiting for a Cost Controller on a 6 month contract, based in Middlesbrough

Role Summary
The Cost Controller will support Project/Package Management with the management and control of contract costs, ensuring contracts stay within budget and meet quality standards by estimating costs to completion, supporting contract/commercial management, and overseeing financial reporting, for various professional services and/or supply contracts.
The Cost Controller shall comply with our Clients confidentiality and information security policies at all times and be aware of health and safety in your area of responsibility in line with the relevant section(s) of the relevant Health and Safety Policy and regulations.
Reporting to the Package Manager and Site Contract Manager, the Key Responsibilities include:
1. Cost Estimation and Control/Management
o Estimating quantities and costs of materials, labour, and time.
o Developing cost plans and budgets.
o Monitoring costs and identifying potential cost overruns, including the tracking of variations/changes to the contract that may affect costs.
o Advising on cost-cutting measures and value engineering.
o Analysing repair/maintenance or re-work costs.
o Understand the implications of health and safety regulations.
1. Contract Management/Commercial support:
o Overseeing and valuing subcontractors' work for payments and support on payment/invoice management.
o Support on managing risk and ensuring compliance with regulations and quality standards.
o Assessing the quality of work and identifying potential issues.
o Support on ensuring the subcontractors/suppliers have the necessary skills and experience for their works.
o Support on change management, contractual notices, claims and document control.
1. Reporting and Analysis:
o Preparing cost and progress reports.
o Analyzing project outcomes and providing budget/progress reports.
o Identifying and reporting variations and changes to the contract in a timely manner.
Skills and Qualifications:
· Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
· Meticulous/Strong attention to detail, ensuring accuracy within reporting
· Excellent written and verbal communication and interpersonal skills.
· Knowledge of construction methods and materials.
· Understanding of construction contracts and legal matters.
· Capacity to prioritise work and interface with relevant stakeholders for the collection of information.
· Influencing skills, intercultural skills, capable of working in a team or individually.
· A relevant degree or qualification in cost control or a related field.
· Proficiency with Microsoft Office
Essential Experience
· Demonstratable infrastructure, engineering and / or construction experience.
· Good understanding of day-to-day commercial administration in the Engineering and Construction industries.
· Experience in supporting large-scale projects and change initiatives using appropriate methodologies.
· Proven experience of Professional Services/Supply contracts.
