Cost Manager – Civil Engineering & Infrastructure

Are you an experienced Cost Manager or Senior Quantity Surveyor looking to play a key role in delivering some of Ireland's largest civil engineering and infrastructure projects?
Syntech Recruitment is partnering with a leading infrastructure and civil engineering contractor as they continue to strengthen their commercial team. This is an outstanding opportunity for an experienced Cost Manager to take ownership of the commercial and financial management of major highways, rail, bridges, utilities, earthworks and transportation projects across Ireland.
The Role
As a Cost Manager, you will be responsible for providing commercial leadership across major infrastructure projects, ensuring effective cost planning, financial management and commercial governance throughout the project lifecycle.
Working collaboratively with commercial, operational and project teams, you will oversee project budgets, procurement, contract administration, cost reporting and commercial risk management to ensure projects are delivered profitably and in line with contractual requirements.
Key Responsibilities

Develop and manage project budgets, cost plans and commercial forecasts.

Monitor project expenditure, cash flow and cost performance throughout delivery.

Prepare and manage Bills of Quantities (BOQs), quantity measurements and cost estimates.

Administer contracts, variations, compensation events and change management processes.

Prepare interim valuations, payment applications and final accounts.

Manage procurement activities including subcontractor and supplier enquiries, tender evaluations and commercial negotiations.

Review drawings, specifications and contract documentation to identify commercial risks and opportunities.

Produce accurate monthly cost reports, forecasts and financial performance updates.

Support value engineering initiatives and identify opportunities to improve commercial performance.

Participate in project risk reviews and commercial governance meetings.

Ensure compliance with contractual obligations, company procedures and client requirements.

Work closely with project managers, estimators, planners and operational teams to support successful project delivery.

Build and maintain strong working relationships with clients, consultants, subcontractors and key stakeholders.
About You
-
Minimum 7 years' experience within Quantity Surveying, Cost Management or Commercial Management in civil engineering or infrastructure.

Strong commercial background across highways, rail, bridges, utilities, drainage, earthworks or major infrastructure projects.

Experience managing project costs from pre-construction through to final account.

Strong understanding of procurement, cost planning, contract administration and commercial reporting.

Experience working with NEC, Public Works Contracts or similar construction contracts.

Degree qualified in Quantity Surveying, Civil Engineering, Construction Management or a related discipline.

Commercially astute with excellent analytical and financial management skills.

Strong communication, negotiation and stakeholder management abilities.

Ability to work collaboratively within multidisciplinary project teams.
