Crane Lift Supervisor – Highways
Location: Northamptonshire
Duration: 12 months for the right person
Rate/Salary: £27 per hour
Start Date: immediate
We are currently seeking an experienced Crane Lift Supervisor to join a major highways project. The successful candidate will be responsible for supervising lifting operations on site, ensuring all lifts are planned, coordinated and carried out safely and in accordance with the approved lifting plan and site requirements.
Key Responsibilities
- Supervise all lifting operations on the highways project.
- Ensure lifting activities are carried out safely and in accordance with approved lift plans, RAMS and site procedures.
- Coordinate crane operators, slinger/signallers and other personnel involved in lifting operations.
- Conduct pre-lift briefings and ensure all personnel understand their roles and responsibilities.
- Check lifting accessories, equipment and exclusion zones prior to operations.
- Monitor ground conditions, crane set-up and site constraints.
- Stop lifting operations where unsafe conditions or deviations from the lifting plan are identified.
- Maintain accurate records and report any incidents, defects or issues to site management.
- Liaise with the Site Manager, Lift Planner and other site teams to coordinate lifting activities.
- Ensure compliance with relevant UK lifting regulations and highways project requirements.
Requirements
- Proven experience as a Crane Lift Supervisor, preferably on highways, civil engineering or major infrastructure projects.
- Relevant CPCS/NPORS lifting supervisor qualification.
- Strong understanding of lifting operations, lift plans and RAMS.
- Good knowledge of UK health and safety requirements relating to lifting operations.
- Experience working around live or partially live highways environments would be advantageous.
- Ability to communicate effectively with site teams and subcontractors.
- Strong safety awareness and a proactive approach to identifying hazards.
- Valid CSCS or relevant site access certification where required.
