We are looking for experienced Crane Operators to support major defence and engineering projects within a highly regulated shipyard environment.

The Role

• Safely operate overhead and mobile cranes to lift, transport and position engineering loads
• Carry out lifting operations in line with approved lift plans and procedures
• Complete pre-use inspections and equipment checks
• Support vessel operations, manufacturing and maintenance activities
• Select and use appropriate lifting equipment
• Work safely at height and within confined spaces where trained and authorised
• Complete relevant permits and lifting documentation
• Work closely with slingers, maintenance, welding and production teams

Requirements

• Previous crane operating experience within shipbuilding, engineering, construction or heavy industry
• Valid Crane Operator certification
• Strong understanding of lifting operations and safe systems of work
• Ability to follow lift plans, procedures and technical instructions
• Strong commitment to safety and quality
• Good communication and teamwork skills

Desirable Qualifications

• Crane Supervisor
• Appointed Person
• Slinger/Signaller
• Mobile Crane Operator
• Overhead Crane experience
• Forklift / MEWP licences
• Confined Space / Working at Height
