Watford, Hertfordshire £60,000 - £70,000 + Benefits

Protecting Cash. Driving Performance. Holding Accountability.

At MSS Infrastructure Ltd, we are looking for an experienced Credit & Collections Manager to take ownership of one of the most critical functions in our business: converting revenue into cash and protecting the company's working capital position. The role is responsible for maximising cash collection, reducing debt exposure and ensuring the financial strength of the business through effective credit management and collection performance.

This is not simply a credit control management role.

You will be the designated owner of the debtor ledger, accountable for collection performance across the business, and expected to drive a culture where debt recovery, cash forecasting and working capital management are treated as commercial priorities.

As a department head, you will be expected to operate at a senior level, providing clear visibility of debt, cash performance and collection risks to the leadership team. On occasion, you may be invited to attend Board meetings to explain performance, debt risks and recovery strategies, making this an opportunity suited to an experienced professional who is comfortable operating with executive-level accountability.

Key Responsibilities

  • Own and manage the company debtor ledger.
  • Deliver monthly cash collection targets.
  • Drive recovery of overdue and aged debt.
  • Lead collection activity for high-value and high-risk customer accounts.
  • Develop and implement debt recovery plans.
  • Assess customer creditworthiness and manage credit risk exposure.
  • Oversee billing governance and support the resolution of payment disputes.
  • Improve cash forecasting accuracy and debtor ledger performance.
  • Lead and develop the Credit Control, Billing and Revenue team.
  • Escalate significant collection risks and commercial issues to senior leadership.

What We're Looking For

We are seeking a commercially minded leader who understands that protecting cash is fundamental to business success.

You will have:

  • Significant experience in Accounts Receivable, Credit Management, Collections or Order-to-Cash leadership.
  • Proven success improving cash collection performance and reducing aged debt.
  • Experience within the construction, infrastructure, labour supply or recruitment sectors.
  • Strong knowledge of self-billing and customer-led billing arrangements.
  • Excellent negotiation, dispute resolution and stakeholder management skills.
  • Advanced Excel capability and a strong analytical approach.
  • The confidence and credibility to challenge internally, engage with senior stakeholders and take ownership of outcomes.

Why Join MSS Infrastructure?

This is a highly visible role with direct influence on company cash flow, working capital, borrowing requirements and overall business performance. Success will be measured through cash collection results, debt reduction and the quality of the debtor ledger, giving the successful candidate the opportunity to make a significant impact across the organisation.

If you are an experienced Credit & Collections leader who thrives on accountability, enjoys solving complex collection challenges and is prepared to take ownership of a business-critical function, we would like to hear from you.
