Unite People are recruiting an experienced Civil, Structural & Architectural (CSA) Construction Manager to join a construction consultancy supporting the delivery of major UK data centre developments.
Working within the client-side delivery team, you will oversee the main contractor and specialist subcontractors, ensuring CSA works progress safely, to programme and to the required quality standards.
This role would suit a strong construction professional from a consultancy or main contractor background who can challenge contractor performance, resolve technical interfaces and keep construction activities moving.
Key responsibilities:
-
Oversee civil, structural and architectural works, including foundations, steelwork, concrete, roofing, cladding and building envelope packages.
-
Monitor contractor progress, resources and productivity, identifying risks and challenging recovery plans where required.
-
Coordinate CSA interfaces with mechanical, electrical, plumbing and fire protection works.
-
Review construction drawings, technical submissions, shop drawings and construction sequencing proposals.
-
Track procurement and material deliveries against key programme milestones.
-
Carry out quality inspections and monitor defects, non-conformances and remedial works.
-
Ensure work areas and building envelopes are ready for equipment installation and commissioning.
-
Provide clear reporting on progress, quality, risks and handover readiness.
Requirements:
-
Minimum 10 years’ experience in construction delivery or management, including significant CSA experience.
-
Background delivering major data centre, industrial, infrastructure or similarly complex projects.
-
Strong technical knowledge of structural works, civil infrastructure and building envelope systems.
-
Experience managing or overseeing main contractors and specialist subcontractors.
-
Good understanding of construction sequencing, quality assurance and building services interfaces.
-
Degree or equivalent qualification in a relevant construction or engineering discipline.
-
Confident communication skills and the ability to challenge performance constructively.
Previous data centre experience and client-side or consultancy experience are desirable. Candidates from a strong main contractor background are also encouraged to apply.
Applicants must be able to work full-time on site, travel where required and hold the appropriate right to work in the UK.
