Advanced Social Worker – Children’s Social Care

Colindale, London | £37.54 per hour (Umbrella)

We are seeking an experienced Advanced Social Worker to join a statutory Children’s Social Care service in Colindale. This is an excellent opportunity for a highly skilled practitioner who can work autonomously with complex cases, manage higher levels of risk and support the development of less experienced social workers.

Key Responsibilities

• Provide high-quality social work services to children and families in complex situations.
• Assess, plan, implement and review safeguarding and permanence plans.
• Manage complex cases and higher levels of risk using sound professional judgement.
• Work autonomously within statutory frameworks, Council policies and procedures.
• Support, mentor and provide guidance to less experienced social workers.
• Take a lead role in a specialist area of practice.
• Deputise for the Line Manager when required.
• Contribute to effective multi-agency working and safeguarding arrangements.
• Promote positive outcomes and ensure children have the opportunity to reach their full potential.
• Maintain high standards of recording, assessment and professional practice.

Essential Requirements

• Substantial post-qualifying experience in statutory Children’s Social Care.
• Strong experience managing complex safeguarding and permanence cases.
• Demonstrable ability to assess and manage high levels of risk.
• Excellent professional judgement and decision-making skills.
• Ability to work independently and provide expert practice in complex situations.
• Experience mentoring and supporting less experienced social workers.
• Strong knowledge of statutory children’s social care legislation and guidance.
• Practice Educator Award desirable, with an expectation to achieve the award within the first year if not already held.
