Are you an experienced Children's Social Worker looking to take the next step in your career? We are recruiting for a Senior Social Worker to join a dynamic Children's Services team in Colindale, London. This is an excellent opportunity for a confident practitioner to manage complex cases, support the development of colleagues, and play a key role in delivering high-quality services that improve outcomes for children and families.

The Role

Working within a Resilience Framework, you will deliver expert social work interventions to children and families with complex needs, ensuring safeguarding remains at the heart of your practice. You'll work with a high degree of autonomy while supporting less experienced colleagues, contributing to workforce development, and deputising for the Team Manager when required.

This role is ideal for an experienced practitioner who enjoys combining frontline casework with leadership, mentoring, and practice development.

Key Responsibilities

• Manage a complex caseload involving child protection, children in need, court work and permanence planning.
• Complete robust assessments, care planning and evidence-based interventions.
• Assess and manage complex safeguarding risks, ensuring children receive timely and effective support.
• Build positive, professional relationships with children, families and partner agencies.
• Prepare high-quality reports, assessments and court statements within statutory timescales.
• Take a lead role in specialist areas of practice in line with service priorities.
• Support, mentor and coach Newly Qualified Social Workers (NQSWs) and less experienced practitioners.
• Act as a Practice Educator or support the development of trainee Practice Educators.
• Deputise for the Team Manager when required.
• Work collaboratively with partner agencies to achieve the best outcomes for children and young people.
• Maintain accurate case records, chronologies, genograms and management information.
• Apply current legislation, research and best practice to inform decision-making and interventions.

About You

We're looking for someone who has:

• Qualified Social Worker status.
• Current Social Work England registration.
• Significant post-qualification experience within statutory Children's Social Care.
• Strong experience in safeguarding, child protection, court proceedings and permanence planning.
• Excellent assessment, analytical and report-writing skills.
• Experience mentoring, supporting or supervising less experienced social workers.
• Strong knowledge of current legislation, safeguarding guidance and children's social care practice.
• The ability to work independently while contributing positively to team performance.
• A Practice Educator Award is desirable, although support may be available to achieve this qualification.
