Location: Kingston, KT1 2QJ
Salary: £17,362 per annum
Contract: Part time, Permanent
Hours: 22.5 hours per week, Monday to Friday#
Benefits: 28 days annual leave (pro rata) + 8 bank holidays (3 days are kept back for Christmas & New Year closure), Pension with Legal and General – 4% minimum and KUSCO will match the contribution up to 6%, Life Assurance 3 x your salary, Uniform is supplied and Training is given!

Our Customer Services Team is at the heart of the student and visitor experience, providing professional, responsive, and welcoming support every day.
We are now recruiting for a friendly, professional, and customer-focused Customer Services Assistant to join our dedicated Customer Services Team.
This is a varied and rewarding role providing essential reception, switchboard, administration, retail, postal, and customer support services across Kingston University's campuses.
As one of the first points of contact for students, staff, visitors, and contractors, you'll play a key role in delivering an excellent customer experience while helping to ensure the smooth day-to-day operation of university services.
About the Customer Services Assistant Role
Reporting to the Customer Services Supervisor, you will provide support across a range of customer service functions, including:
- Welcoming visitors, students, and staff with a professional and friendly approach.
- Providing information, directions, and assistance across university services.
- Managing incoming telephone enquiries and directing calls appropriately.
- Supporting emergency procedures and acting as a communication focal point during incidents.
- Managing administrative duties including car parking, staff ID card collections, secure transits, lost property, and room equipment distribution.
- Assisting during University events such as Open Days, Welcome Weeks, and Graduation ceremonies.
- Receiving and recording deliveries.
- Managing incoming and outgoing post and courier services.
- Maintaining accurate records and supporting distribution across university sites.
- Working within the busy Knights Park Art Shop, you will: Assist with stock control and deliveries, Serve students and staff purchasing materials and equipment, Process payments using card payment systems (PDQ machines) and Support stock transfers and end-of-day cashing up procedures.
- Ensuring compliance with GDPR and University procedures.

Essential Skills & Attributes

- Confident telephone manner and clear speaking voice.
- PC literate with experience using Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook, and Teams.
- Strong organisational skills and attention to detail.
- Able to work independently and use initiative.
- Flexible and willing to work across different University locations when required.
- Reliable team player who supports colleagues when needed.
- Professional, well-presented, and approachable.
- Physically fit and able to undertake manual handling tasks associated with deliveries and stock movement.
