We're supporting a leading logistics and customs specialist in seeking an experienced Customs Broker to join their established customs team based in Bradford.
This is an excellent opportunity for a detail-oriented Customs Broker to support a major client account, managing import customs declarations from initial entry through to final cargo release and invoicing. The successful Customs Broker will join a busy operation processing approximately 1,500 import customs entries each month, making this an ideal role for someone who thrives in a fast-paced environment and can manage multiple shipments simultaneously.
The position offers the chance for a skilled Customs Broker to play a key role in ensuring the efficient and compliant movement of goods while working closely with customers, customs authorities and internal stakeholders.
Key Responsibilities
- Prepare and submit import customs declarations using CargoWise and the Customs Declaration Service (CDS).
- Ensure customs entries are completed accurately and in compliance with all relevant customs regulations and client requirements.
- Monitor declarations throughout the clearance process and proactively manage any issues that may impact cargo release.
- Liaise with HMRC, customs authorities, government agencies, carriers and other stakeholders to resolve customs holds, examinations and documentation queries.
- Maintain accurate customs and shipment records within CargoWise and other internal systems.
- Upload customs documentation and shipment information to client portals in accordance with agreed service levels.
- Provide regular updates to internal teams and external stakeholders regarding shipment status and customs clearance progress.
- Prepare and issue invoices relating to customs brokerage services, duties, taxes and associated charges.
- Ensure all customs activities are completed in line with company procedures, customs legislation and client-specific requirements.
- Previous experience working as a Customs Broker, Customs Clearance Coordinator or in a similar customs-focused role.
- Working knowledge of import customs procedures and customs compliance requirements.
- Experience using CargoWise and CDS would be advantageous.
- Strong attention to detail and accuracy.
- Excellent organisational and time management skills.
- Ability to manage multiple customs entries and prioritise workload effectively.
- Strong communication skills and a customer-focused approach.
£30,000 - £35,000 per annum (dependent on experience)
20 days annual leave plus bank holidays
