Cylinder Preparation Operative in Grimsby

This is a hands-on role working within a safety-critical production environment, preparing, inspecting and testing cylinders and drums to ensure they meet strict quality, safety and regulatory standards.
The position would suit someone with a strong mechanical background who is comfortable working to detailed procedures and maintaining high standards of safety and accuracy.
What will I be paid?
- £17.20 per hour
What hours will I be working?
- 37 hours per week
- Normal hours: 07:00 – 14:30
- Additional or alternative shifts may occasionally be available depending on business requirements
What will I be doing?
- Preparing cylinders and drums in line with production schedules
- Inspecting and testing equipment to ensure it meets required safety and quality standards
- Replacing valves and carrying out basic mechanical preparation work
- Washing, drying and leak-testing cylinders and drums
- Carrying out statutory testing and assessing results against required standards
- Safely supporting the disposal of toxic, corrosive and flammable gases in line with company procedures
- Maintaining accurate technical records and documentation
- Carrying out routine inspections and basic maintenance of disposal and treatment equipment
- Supporting waste management and site compliance procedures
- Working closely with colleagues to maintain a safe and efficient operation
What skills and experience do I need?
- Good mechanical aptitude
- Ideally an NVQ Level 3 mechanical qualification or around 3 years' relevant mechanical experience
- Comfortable working within a safety-focused industrial environment
- Good communication skills and ability to work as part of a team
- GCSEs, Functional Skills or equivalent in Maths and English
- Good attention to detail and ability to follow technical procedures
- Reliable and safety-conscious approach to work
- FLT licence would be advantageous, but is not essential
