Help Shape the UK’s Energy Future
Data Architect Opportunity with the Civil Works Alliance (CWA), Supporting Sizewell C
As part of the CWA (Civil Works Alliance), you will support the building of Sizewell C. Sizewell C will be a 3.2-gigawatt power station generating low-carbon electricity for around 6 million homes and will play a key role in our energy future, supplying reliable, clean electricity for at least 60 years. This role will be within the CWA Wide Section.
What will you do?
The Enterprise Data Architect will work within the Enterprise Architecture function to develop and maintain CWA's enterprise data architecture and its relationships with business, application, technology and implementation architecture.
The role will work closely with the Enterprise Architect Lead, Data, IT, Digital, PMO, business and delivery teams to define data structures, domains, ownership, flows, lineage, authoritative sources and integration dependencies, and to translate these into clear architecture models and documentation.
A strong understanding of Microsoft Azure cloud architecture is essential, particularly the relationship between Azure services, enterprise data platforms, applications, integration, identity, security, networking and storage.
Experience of major construction and infrastructure environments and associated technologies such as BIM, digital twins, common data environments and asset information systems will be advantageous.
Principal Accountabilities, Activities and Decisions
The Enterprise Data Architect will:
- Develop and maintain current-state, transition-state and target-state enterprise data architecture.
- Define and maintain data domains, entities, objects, ownership, stewardship, authoritative sources, systems of record, lineage and data flows.
- Develop conceptual and logical data models in collaboration with Data, IT, Digital, PMO, business and delivery teams.
- Map relationships between data, business capabilities, processes, applications, integrations and technology components.
- Develop application and technology architecture views where required to support data architecture and traceability.
- Model Microsoft Azure environments and services relevant to enterprise data, including data platforms, integration, storage, identity, security and networking.
- Assess the data and architecture implications of new systems, cloud services, integrations, technology changes and project initiatives.
- Support the architecture of enterprise data platforms, including data storage, processing, integration, analytics and information exchange capabilities.
- Maintain traceability between requirements, data, applications, technologies, integrations, work packages, deliverables and implementation milestones.
- Capture and structure architecture and data requirements and support their validation and traceability.
- Identify data, application, integration and technology dependencies, gaps, duplication, risks and inconsistencies.
- Assess project and solution designs against agreed enterprise architecture principles, standards and data architecture requirements.
- Support architecture reviews, design assurance and implementation planning.
- Develop architecture models using ArchiMate 3.2, BPMN and UML as appropriate.
- Use Sparx Enterprise Architect to maintain architecture and requirements content and Prolaborate to publish and review architecture information.
- Support architecture model exchange using XML and XMI where required.
- Maintain architecture repositories, modelling standards, naming conventions, metadata and controlled documentation.
- Engage with stakeholders to gather information, validate architecture models and communicate architecture decisions and dependencies.
- Support data architecture relating to construction technologies including BIM platforms, digital twins, common data environments, asset information models and project delivery systems.
- Contribute to the continuous improvement of CWA architecture standards, modelling practices, governance and repository quality.
