Central Recruitment is currently working with an organisation passionate about helping people develop independence and meet their personal goals and aspirations.
Our client is hiring a Deputy Manager to work across Hackney and Waltham Forest, supporting care leavers and young people facing housing and mental health challenges to develop the skills and confidence needed for independent living.
- 37.5 hours per week
- Monday - Friday (may be required to work one Saturday a month)
- Shifts: 09:00 - 17:00
- Temporary: approx. 2 months
- £20.26 per hour (£17.69 per hour, with £2.57 holiday pay)
Please note: you'll be based across 7 young people's services in the Hackney and Waltham Forest areas.
Key responsibilities:
- Provide direct day to day management of a group of small services
- Oversee a team of flexi staff, and 4 fixed staff and undertake supervision, probations, inductions and appraisals
- Organise staff rota and activities linked to contractual requirement and customer wishes
- Provide a robust induction to new managers to include regular 1:1 mentoring and coaching
- Work as directed by the Team Manager to recruit to vacant posts in a timely/ cost effective way
- Plan and deliver services within the budgeted income and expenditure
- Support customers to manage their finances appropriately where required
- Ensure front line staff have the skills and equipment required to key work
- Monitor customer support and action plans and ensure all risk assessments are up to date and available to everyone working with the customer
- Liaise with HM/Landlord/colleagues, lead on and have main oversight of sign-up process, referrals and assessments, following up in-action
- Promote, market and attend void forums and develop/work in collaboration to develop tools to minimise void turnaround times
What we’re looking for:
- Experience in managing or deputising within supported living or residential care services
- Experience working with young people and mental health clients
- Strong understanding of the challenges faced by young people leaving care or experiencing housing need
- Skills in risk assessment, crisis management and housing management processes
- Knowledge of lettings and voids and experience overseeing staff carrying out these processes
- Knowledge and understanding of housing laws and regulations
- A commitment to safeguarding and promoting young people's rights
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills; able to liaise with professionals, families and staff
- Ability to motivate, support and lead a team in a flexible and responsive manner
- Proficient IT skills (e.g. Microsoft Office, case management systems)
Further requirements:
In order to register with Central Recruitment Services for temporary agency work, candidates must meet the following criteria:
- Current valid right to work in the UK
- Minimum 12 months’ of paid experience in a front line social care role within the last 3 years* (unless recruitment criteria states otherwise)
- A fully enhanced DBS either registered on the DBS update service or issued within the last 12 months, or willingness to apply for one through Central (at a cost of £60)
- Employment or education history to cover the last 5 years which can be verified through the referencing process
