Deputy Manager – Children's Residential Care

Our client is seeking an experienced Deputy Manager to support the Registered Manager in the day-to-day leadership of a Children's Residential Home. This is an excellent opportunity for someone passionate about delivering outstanding care and making a positive difference to the lives of children and young people with emotional and behavioural needs.

The successful candidate will help ensure the home provides a safe, nurturing and supportive environment, maintaining high standards of care and compliance with Children's Homes Regulations and Ofsted requirements.

Deputy Manager – Children's Residential Care

Location: Greenwich
Salary: £40,000 - £45,000
Hours: 40 hours per week

Key Responsibilities

  • Support the Registered Manager with the day-to-day running of the home.
  • Deputise in the Registered Manager's absence.
  • Lead, motivate and supervise the staff team, promoting a positive and supportive culture.
  • Safeguard and promote the welfare of children and young people at all times.
  • Ensure high-quality, person-centred care and positive outcomes for young people.
  • Lead shifts, oversee staff rotas and support the development of the team through supervision and mentoring.
  • Maintain accurate records and ensure policies, procedures and safeguarding practices are followed.
  • Build positive relationships with families, social workers and external professionals.
  • Participate in the management on-call rota and work flexibly to meet the needs of the service.

What We're Looking For

  • Experience in a Senior Residential Support Worker or management role within a children's residential setting.
  • Level 3 Diploma in Residential Childcare (or equivalent).
  • A passion for improving outcomes for children and young people.
  • Strong leadership, communication and organisational skills.
  • Experience managing safeguarding, risk and challenging situations.
  • Ability to inspire and support a high-performing team.
  • Good IT, administration and record-keeping skills.
  • Full UK Driving Licence.

Desirable

  • Level 5 Diploma in Leadership & Management for Residential Childcare (or willingness to work towards).
  • Previous experience supporting children with emotional and behavioural difficulties.
